What’s more entertaining than a good drama on a Friday night? I personally can’t think of anything ๐ However, there are so many shows and dramas out there, it can be hard to know where to start. That’s why I complied a list of the top 5 best Korean dramas to get you started.

5. Best Korean Dramas: Most Charming
Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
There are so many heartwarming and charming K-dramas out there, so it was hard to pick the “most charming” for the list of Best Korean Dramas, but in the end, it had to be Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. Set in a beautiful coastal town, a city girl from Seoul is forced to slow down and find simplicity in life. As she overcomes judgment and pride, she finds herself coming to appreciate the beauty of taking things slow as she makes new friends and tries new things along the way.
Watch Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha if you enjoy tv shows about overcoming personal battles, and learning to accept help in life. Oh and seagull sound effects.
4. Best Korean Dramas: Most dramatic
Vincenzo
As with all the best Korean dramas, Vincenzo is, well, dramatic. It follows the story of an Italian Korean lawyer who works for the mafia. He leaves Italy to go to Korea for personal reasons, but ends up getting caught up in a case against a powerful conglomerate. Is it even possible for someone like Vincenzo to find love in this world? I guess you’ll just have to watch it to find out!
Watch Vincenzo if you enjoy dark comedies, justice, revenge, and anti-heroes.
3. Best Korean Dramas: Most Emotional
Queen of Tears
Queen of Tears makes the list of Best Korean Dramas as the “most emotional”. This show is about an unlikely couple (one the CEO of a department store, the other a small town boy) that is struggling to find love again. After years of drifting apart, the two strive to come together…even in the most difficult of circumstances. It explores themes such as forgiveness, family, and finding the beauty in life. Queen of Tears keeps you on the edge of your seat as it swings from moments of comedy to heart-wrenching despair within a single episode.
Watch Queen of Tears if you enjoy stories that include forgiveness, redemption, and family working to understand one another. It was written by Park Ji-eun, who also wrote Crash Landing on You.
2. Best Korean Dramas: Best Historical Drama
100 Days My Prince
100 Days My Prince is a cleverly humorous historical drama about a crown prince that loses his memory and finds love living as a commoner…or does he? You’ll just have to watch! While set sometime in the Joseon Dynasty, 100 Days My Prince is so relatable to life today (probably because it was written just a few years ago, but that’s besides the point). This show is full of hilarious quips along with tear-jerking scenes that will make you want to watch more.
Watch 100 Days My Prince if you enjoy historical dramas, clever dialogue and jokes, and nostalgic love stories.
Available on Netflix, Rakuten Viki, The Roku Channel, and Amazon Prime Video
1. Best Korean Dramas: Overall Pick
Crash Landing on You
You can’t have a “Best of Korean Dramas” list and not include Crash Landing on You. This is my favorite drama by quite a bit (which is saying something, as each of the other dramas are amazing!). Crash Landing on You is the best of all worlds. Want something charming and heartwarming? Crash Landing on You provides that. What about something dramatic and captivating? Crash Landing on You keeps you on the edge of your seat. And emotional? Tears were definitely shed when finishing this show.
Crash Landing on You is a story about a department store queen who (through uncanny circumstances) ends up crash landing in North Korea. It narrates her adventures and difficulties in trying to return home…and her experiences in finding love along the way.
Watch Crash Landing on You if you enjoy love stories with humor and high stakes.
